An Experiment

I think I'll try a little experiment. I'm going to go from Orange County to, oh, let's say Philly and find some people that are known to be violent criminals (either by reputation or past conviction).

I'll find a good sampling of them and do more research. First, I'll eliminate (from my list) all of those that weigh over 170 pounds (I'm 190). Then I'll eliminate all of those that have a greater than average IQ. After that I'll find out which of them are quite likely to be hostile to the things I believe.

Once I have finalized my list, I'll go break in to their homes, beat up the criminal and all his close friends and relatives. I might even kill a few of them just for good measure.

I won't try to hide my actions. In fact, I'll launch a huge media campaign to defend my actions. Clearly those criminals are a potential threat to me so I must go forth and deal with the problem ahead of time in order to protect myself and those I love.

Who's with me?

A Really Cool Maze

Taking a little break from politics.

See if you can get through all 4 levels of this maze.

The Poll You Didn't Hear About

You're not likely to see the results of this poll on a Fox News Special Report.

It looks like the polling data shows that Ron Paul could beat Hillary Clinton in an election.

The data provided is still very much open to interpretation and more research needs to be done but go take a look for yourself.

There is hope my friends, there is hope.

Criminal Safety Zones

A news photographer was arrested in Florida after entering school grounds while carrying his otherwise legal firearm.

Apparently, it's illegal in Florida, even for concealed weapons permit holders to enter school grounds while carrying a gun. The Florida legislature, in its infinite wisdom has seen fit to make certain places very safe for criminals with murderous intentions.

Want to kill a bunch of people in Florida? Start shooting up a school, there won't be anyone that's armed firing back at you. Achieve maximum carnage before the police arrive.

When are the morons going to learn that armed law-abiding citizens make the rest of us safe? Don't answer that, I already know.

An Acceptable Compromise

I made a deal with my boss this morning.

I've been hammering on him about Ron Paul. He's the "anyone but Hillary" type of person. He doesn't think Ron Paul has a glimmer of hope. I told him that there is no way I could ever support Giulliani if he get the Republican nomination. He's been hammering on me saying that if I don't vote for whatever Republican gets the nomination, that I'm voting for Hillary. The math just doesn't work out that way but whatever, we're not going to agree on that.

So I told him to at least vote for Ron Paul in the Republican Primary. He agreed. But he made a deal with me. He said that he and his wife would vote for Ron Paul in the Primary if voted for who ever got the GOP nomination in the general election.

I agreed to that without a moments hesitation. Why? Because no one but Ron Paul will be able to beat Shillary anyway so it won't matter who I actually cast my vote for. That is especially true here in California. Traditionally, all of the electoral votes for California go to the Democrats, it's just a given. I think Ron Paul could take California if he gets the nomination but who can say. There are a lot of Democrats who support him simply because of his stance on the war.

All in all, I think it's an acceptable compromise to get two votes for Ron Paul in the Primary.

Because Winning Is Most Important

Governor Schwarzenegger apparently thinks that winning is more important than actual principals. He is urging Republican candidates for President to move towards the center and capture centrist votes on things like health care and education.

Schwarzenegger won a 2nd term here California (a liberal state) by essentially becoming a liberal. He seems to have abandoned any pretense of conservative principals which should have been obvious to even the most loyal party hack when he signed SB 777 which forces the promotion of homosexuality on our public school children.

What's the point in winning if it's not so you can implement the things you say that you believe? Why even bother to beat Hillary if whoever gets elected will govern like her except he will have that 'R' label? Why debate, why campaign?

Personally, I hope the "star" GOP candidates take his advice; it can only help Ron Paul who will stick to his message of smaller government and more liberty.

Ron Paul Wins Fox News Poll

...but Sean Hannity dismisses the results.

Watch Hannity interview Ron Paul after the New Hampshire debate. Not only does Hannity completely dismiss the results of Fox's own poll, he tries to corner Paul in to saying who he's support if he doesn't win the nomination. He also implied that if he wasn't going to support any of the front runner Republicans he'd be supporting Hillary.

Shameless.

We're So Much Safer Now

Yes folks, we have verifiable evidence that more government has made us more secure.

Ok, you're laughing and rightfully so because the statement above is purely a work of fiction. The fact of the matter is, we're not safer now, we're far from it. USA Today published an article that says that airport screeners missed 75% of fake bombs at LAX and 60% at O'Hare.

**TERRORIST INSTRUCTION ALERT**
If terrorists decided to send 10 guys with one bomb each on 10 different place going from LAX 7 out of 10 of them would succeed in getting aboard the plane with the bomb.
**END TERRORIST INSTRUCTION ALERT**

The fact is, we're not safer and the government (any government) is incapable of making us safer from anything but an invading enemy hoard (even that is questionable at times). After 9/11, the TSA took over airport screening duties. Obviously they had to hire a lot of existing screeners from the private companies who ran them. I haven't done any research but I imagine more than a few security companies went out of business because the government essentially stole their businesses from them.

The article says that in the late 1990, screeners only missed about 40% of fake bombs. Certainly the technology available to the general public to make bombs has improved, the ability to screen for bombs has improved too so we should be seeing at least some consistency in that number. But no, when you work for the government your ability to perform does not increase. You are more hampered by bureaucracy (or bureaucrazy as Nelly called it once) when you work for the government. Walk in to any government office and see what a model of efficiency, innovation and pure joy it is. Could you expect anything more from government security screeners? If it's really a matter of national security, why not use military? They tend to have more of a sense of dedication than the typical government worker.

Let's put airport security back in the hands of the airlines where it belongs. They have a responsibility to keep their passengers safe. Their livelihood depends on it so let them do it. Let them compete for a "Safest Airline" award by some private entity.

Let's get rid of every other Federal agency and let the market fill the need if there actually is one for the services it provides at our expense.

Family Friendly Education

...but only if you're a homosexual family.

In May of last year, I wrote about a bill introduced in to the California Senate which was ultimately defeated. Not only is it back with a vengeance, it's the law of the land.

Our Not-So-Beloved Governor Schwarzenegger signed SB 777 in to law. He should be recalled as governor immediately. This bill was authored by Representative Sheila Kuehel, an activist lesbian.

This law is nothing short of forced homosexual indoctrination of our children. Please have a vomit bag handy before continuing.

Here is the full text of the bill under question.

There are two major things that this law accomplishes:
  1. It removes the definition of "sex" (biological sexual trait) and replaces it with "gender" which is one's own perception of sexual identity regardless of actual biological sexual assignment.
  2. It defines atheism and agnosticism as religions in the educational code.
From the bill:

SECTION 1. Section 200 of the Education Code is amended to read:
200. It is the policy of the State of California to afford all
persons in public schools, regardless of their sex, ethnic
group identification, race, national origin, religion, mental or
physical disability, or regardless of any actual or perceived
disability, gender, nationality, race or ethnicity,
religion, sexual orientation, or any other
characteristic that
is contained in the definition of hate crimes set forth in Section
422.55 of the Penal Code, equal rights and opportunities in the
educational institutions of the state. The purpose of this chapter is
to prohibit acts which are contrary to that policy and to provide
remedies therefor.
Notice what was changed. 'Sex' was replaced with 'gender'. 'Mental or physical disability' was replaced with the nebulous 'disability', and 'national origin' was replaced with 'nationality'.

  • Gender For Sex - 'Sex' is a biological definition. There are two sexes; male and female. Yes, there are some people born with both traits but it's very rare. Replacing sex with gender opens us up to how any individual perceives his/her/its sexual identity. The law now says that we have to accommodate that persons perceptions.
  • Disability - This is a suspicious change. Why take out "mental or physical" from that list? Section 210.1 was added to the code to define disability as mental or physical but the change still concerns me. If some of you have ideas on how this can be manipulated, I'm open to suggestions.
  • Nationality - 'National origin' indicated where some one has come from. Having that term replaced with 'nationality' tells me that it's ok to come here, use our public resources, supported by taxpayers without any regard for integrating oneself in to American culture and society. It's a minor change I realize but it was changed for a reason. Again, it makes me wonder what it leaves open for legal manipulation.
Back to the sex vs gender deal. Look at this:

210.7. "Gender" means sex, and includes a person's gender
identity and gender related appearance and behavior whether or not
stereotypically associated with the person's assigned sex at birth.
SEC. 5. Section 212 of the Education Code is repealed.
212. "Sex" means the biological condition or quality of being a
male or female human being.

Why the change? What mischief does this open us up to? The term 'sex' was completely stricken from the code. Biology is no longer legally relevant. Boys can wear dresses to school and use the girls bathrooms and locker rooms because they want to act female. Brianna can force her teachers to call her Bob and dress like a boy. Girls can run for homecoming king, boys for queen, etc. Does this also mean that a boy who's perceived gender identity is female can join the girls soccer team? You can bet it will happen. And what happens when other students, who have moral and values that view cross-dressing and homosexuality as wrong speak up and refuse to accept the new gender definitions foisted upon them? If Andrew starts wearing dresses and makeup to school and the other kids tease him, will they be forced in to "sensitivity" classes? You can bet that various districts will be proactive and start forcing children in to these classes anyway without parental consent.

Given the non-discrimination clause, this means that homosexuals, transsexuals and bisexuals must be positively portrayed in textbooks etc. There is wide speculation that the terms "mom" and "dad" will be eliminated from the text books because those terms are seen as discriminatory toward same sex couples with children by the homosexual activists. There are way more implications to all of this than I can even begin to explore here. Please add your own thoughts in the comments.

One of the more troubling aspects of this law isn't even being mentioned by anyone else.

SEC. 25. Section 66262 is added to the Education Code, to read:
66262. "Religion" includes all aspects of religious belief,
observance, and practice and includes agnosticism and atheism.
Make no mistake here. The Republik of Kalifornia has just codified atheisim and agnosticism in to law as religions. Non-belief is now a religion according to the law. This will be used as the final push to get any religious references out of the schools (particularly Christianity). Now, people who don't believe God exists can sue because they simply have to say that atheism is their religion and they're being discriminated against.

This should be, but sadly won't be the the death knell of the public school system, or, as I like to call it, the Collectivist Education Camps. Please go read my post from two years ago about shutting down the public school system completely.

This also has national implications, so don't think that because you don't live in California that this won't affect you and your children eventually.

Rush Blows Off Ron Paul Question

Rush Limbaugh took a call today on Open Line Friday today. What follows is a transcript of the entire call wherein a caller asks Rush to discuss Ron Paul.

RUSH: Andrew in Mount Lake Terrace, Washington. Hi.

CALLER: Hi, Rush, how's it going?

RUSH: Good. Fine. Thank you.

CALLER: I'm calling today to talk about Congressman Ron Paul, and I think that he is probably one of the more conservative candidates running for president, and I think that you should talk about him more on your radio show.

RUSH: I should talk about Ron Paul more?

CALLER: Yes.

RUSH: Okay. Well, it's Open Line Friday, so I'll take that under advisement. I appreciate it. You're a Ron Paul acolyte?

CALLER: Well, I'm an 18-year-old now, in Mount Terrace, Washington, and I've been following the 2008 election.

RUSH: Right.

CALLER: And, I don't know, I think that he's... Sorry if I seem a little nervous. It's my first time calling you.

RUSH: I understand that. I've been a first-time caller, too, many years ago. I know how nervous it is. We don't have much time here to talk about Ron Paul because the time is dwindling. Let's see, I have seven seconds, six seconds. What can I say? Uh... Ron Paul. Republican candidate for president, Ron Paul.

What is Limbaugh afraid of? Why would he stonewall on the subject of Ron Paul? It's been obvious for years that Limbaugh is mostly just a mouthpiece for Bush and the GOP but you think he'd have more to say on the subject. Even a criticism of Paul's stance on Iraq would have been more appropriate than what he did.

I'm going to answer my own question though. He stonewalled because he KNOWS there are hoards of Ron Paul supporters out there waiting to jump all over him if he's critical of him and he doesn't want Paul or his supporters to get any attention.

So please, pass this on.

Bragging Rights

Little Dif continues to amaze her proud father.

She was reading a book to me this evening on the phone. I can't always understand her because the phone tends to drift away from her mouth, but it was about cats and something in there to do with nutrition. She's merrily reading along and comes across the word "carbohydrates". Did she stumble, falter or otherwise hesitate? Noooooooo not my kid! She read it like she's said it a thousand times before. She went on to tell me about other "important nutrients." She still has some work to do though as she struggled with "Phoenicians." Even so, she redeemed herself a moment later with "ancient Egyptians." Did I mention she's not even seven years old yet?

I Stand By My Prediction

I continue to stand by my prediction from June 1, 2006 that Hillary Clinton will name John McCain as her running mate.

From a Washington Post Article:
In an interview aboard her campaign bus, Clinton (N.Y.) acknowledged that she has contributed to the divisive politics of the past decade but said she has learned from those experiences. She said that if she becomes president, she will attempt to assemble a broad, centrist coalition on such key issues as health care, energy independence and national security.

It would make perfect sense for her to nominate McCain and generate the ultimate centrist ticket. This is especially true if Giuliani gets the GOP nomination. He simply won't be able to compete with a Democrat and (supposed) Republican running together since McCain is actually more conservative than Giuliani is.

Primaries Coming Up Fast

It's VERY important for you to vote in the Primary elections. Here is a list of the Primary election dates for each state.

I know MOST of you know this already but for those that don't, Primary elections are held in each state and those elections help each party determine who their main candidate is. The Primaries are held in various states starting as early as January 19, 2008 of this year and running as late as June 3rd. The Republican National Convention which will held from September 1-4, 2008 in Minneapolis, MN is where the GOP will officially decide it's nominee although the choice should be clear long before that. The Democrat National Convention will be held in Denver, CO from August 25-28 2008. Unless there is a huge surprise, it should already be known that Hillary will get the nod from the DNC.

Voters are fairly apathetic about the Primaries. Democrats are going to largely stay home from the Primaries because Hillary has practically been crowned already. Republicans that support the mainstream candidates are going to stay home from the primaries as well simply because they're not excited about their Dole-ish candidates. If Ron Paul supporter can really get on the ball the rest of this year and recruit more people, he actually has a chance to be the nominee.

The conservative media seem to be against Ron Paul. Why? Because they love their cozy relationship with the government as much as the liberals do; just for different reasons.

Vote for Ron Paul in the Primaries. If for no other reason, do it to protest the horse-whipping you've been taking by the GOP since King George George Bush Sr. got elected and betrayed his Conservative base.

Always Verify

Why would anyone have a life altering operation based on a single diagnosis?

A New York woman is suing a medical lab that apparently mislabeled a tissue sample which resulted in a diagnosis of breast cancer and subsequent mastectomy. The woman is only 35 years old.

Although the lab made a horrible mistake and this is certainly a case in which a law suit was justified, I can't imagine allowing myself to undergo such a profoundly life changing surgery based on a single opinion.

Doctor: Difster, you have colon cancer.

Difster: I want a second opinion.

Doctor: OK, you're ugly too.

Difster: Go ahead and operate then.

Doctor: On the cancerous colon or the ugly?

Difster: Your choice. You're a doctor. I trust you and have no opinions on my own medical health. Whatever you think is best MUST be right.

In defense of a government health care program, the woman would have had to wait years for the surgery and might have finally questioned whether she had breast cancer or not. But certainly mistakes like this aren't possible under a government run health care system. Noup -- couldn't happen.

Fun With Translators

I decided to have a little fun with Google's translator service.

I took a paragraph from a recent blog post and translated it in to several languages and back to English.

Here's the original paragraph:
The point is, these people will find other jobs. Unemployment is still low and the job market will adjust to absorb these additional workers. Some will move up, some will move down and some will find comparable wages. Some will start their own businesses and some just might end up homeless. How could our behemoth of a Federal government possibly be flexible enough to account for the different variables that go in to controlling the employment fallout from this or any other industry? Make-work jobs? That provides the wrong incentive. Cash payouts? Some would-be entrepreneurs might just cash those checks instead of creating businesses or go back to school for a different career or apply for more challenging jobs. And frankly, some of these people simply belong in lower paying, lower skilled jobs.

English To Spanish And Back:
The point is, this people will find a other jobs. Unemployment continues being low point and the work market will fit to absorb these additional workers. Some will rise, some will lower and some will find wages comparable. Some will begin their own businesses and some as soon as they could finish upon the nomad. How could our marmotreto of a federal government possibly be quite flexible to explain the diverse variables that enter to control polvillo radioactive of the use of this or another industry? Do-to work the works? That provides the incorrect incentive. Payments of the cash? Some supposed industralists could as soon as to receive those checks instead of creating businesses or of going to the school a diverse race or to ask for desafiadores works again. And franc, some of this people belongs simply in lower paying, lower expert works.

English To French And Back:
The point is, WE SURRENDER these people will find other work. Unemployment is always bottom and WE SURRENDER the labour market will be adjusted to absorb these additional workmen. Some will be raised, the others will lower and the others will find the wages comparable. Some will begin their own companies and the others just could finish to the top of the homeless person. How WE SURRENDER our béhémoth of a federal government could probably be enough flexible to explain the various variables which enter to order the radioactive fallout of use of this or another industry? Make-to work work? That provides the false incentive. Money disbursements cash? Some potential contractors could just box these accounts - cheques instead of creating companies or WE SURRENDER going again to the school for a different WE SURRENDER career or to make application form for more provocative work. And frankly, some of these people belong simply while paying low, lower skilful work.

English To German And Back:
The point is, these people finds other jobs. Unemployment is adjusted still low and the employment market, in order to absorb these additional workers. Some raise, move some downward and some find comparable wages. Some their own business and some straight begin could Homeless up terminate. How could our Behemoth of a Federal Government be enough flexibly perhaps, the different variables, inside for steering the occupation-radioactive of precipitation of this or does go any other industry explaining? Job education work? That supplies the wrong incentive. Cash subsidies? Some alleged entrepreneurs knew those examinations, instead of causing business, to take straight or go back to school for another career or apply for more difficult jobs. And sincerely, belong some these people simply, if they pay lower, lower experienced jobs.

English To Japanese And Back:
As for the point, these people there is the other work which is found. Unemployment even now is low speed, you adjust the employment market in order to absorb these addition workers. Part moves, you lower part, certain people find equal wages. Exactly part perhaps part including itself business, it makes the homeless peolpe arrive. Perhaps how our large animals of Federal Government enter employment from into the control of the atomic ash of this also the variable which or it does at other some enterprise and differs is explained, is the coverage sufficiently wide? The work use the work do? That offers the stimulus which you are wrong. Cash dividend expenditure? One person no person of perhaps the temporary entrepreneur those inspections are changed into cash exactly in the change which draws up business whether, or it returns to the school for another carrier whether, or compared to, it applies to challenge work. Lower, and candidly, than some person of these people lower paying with skillful work it belongs simply.

This was just a fun little exercise to demonstrate that human communication is more than just the words that you write. It's the subtleties of the way you express yourself that makes you unique. Even with the limited amount of words we use while writing, we can communicate many things that a machine translator simply cannot interpret. Maybe some day a computer will understand the actual humanity behind the words and almost get it right but I think we're quite a ways away from that day. Let's hope so anyway.

Worst Case Scenario

Whenever you think that some government program might be a good idea, take a moment and think. Ask yourself, "Self, what is the worst possible use this law or government program could be put to?"

Imagine:
  • The Patriot Act in the hands of Hillary
  • Unaccountable wiretaps in the hands of Guilliani
  • Indefinite lock ups in the hands of John McCain
  • Restrictive gun laws in the hands of Obama
Use your head. What government program is ever really beneficial in the long run? Think about that when it's time to vote.
